  1. The fppriv patch is an extension (INIT) that "implements" (perhaps simply 
  2. ignores) an instruction that A/UX seems not to know about on the Quadras. 
  3. Here's how to install the patch:

  5.         Decode the BinHex (creating "fppriv");
  6.         Put this in your "personal" System Folder -- the one that gets 
  7.         read when A/UX is started up (that is, not the one that gets used 
  8.         when the Mac gets started up)
  9.  
  10. There are a variety of freely available applications (like StuffIt) that 
  11. know how to decode this BinHex. Let me know if you run into any problems 
  12. installing this.
